Who I Write For
My writing is for the students who don’t know what they don’t know. Isn’t that everyone, though? Whether it be a student in high school, college, or life… we all don’t know what we don’t know.
Specifically, though, first-generation students (students whose parents/guardians do not have a 4-year college degree) will always be my priority. If I had known who to talk to when I was a college student, I would have avoided a lot of (expensive!) mistakes…
What is A Minute With Marnie?
A Minute with Marnie started out as a newsletter for college students while I was employed at a university. Since I am no longer employed (due to COVID-19), I decided to repurpose my knowledge into a blog for a broader audience.
I have always been passionate about helping others be their best selves. I’m also passionate about life-long learning and improving things about myself or working to achieve my goals.
While my main focus will be about college-related topics, you may also find posts about my current activities, parenting struggles, life lessons, and more. And in doing so, I hope you find value and suggestions to act on to move further in life.
Why Should Anyone Listen To Me?
I have over 13 years of college advising experience and have helped hundreds of students achieve more than they ever thought was possible. As a first-generation college student, I understand how intimidating college can be! As a human being, I know what it’s like to strive for more.
